Hormone Pellet Therapy
A steady, natural way to restore hormone balance and improve how you feel.
Hormone pellets offer a consistent and natural way to restore balance by releasing bioidentical hormones gradually over time. Pellet therapy provides steady hormone delivery to help you feel better every day without the fluctuations that can occur with other methods.
Dr. Kenton Bruice provides hormone pellet therapy in Denver, Centennial and Aspen, CO and St. Louis, MO.
What Are Hormone Pellets?
Hormone pellets are tiny cylinders made of compressed bioidentical estradiol (an estrogen) or testosterone. About the size of a grain of rice, they are inserted just beneath the skin, typically in the hip area, during a simple in-office procedure.
The pellets dissolve gradually as your body absorbs the hormones over a period of three to six months. Because this method delivers hormones directly into the bloodstream, it avoids the highs and lows that can happen with oral tablets, creams, or patches.
Pellet therapy closely mimics how your body naturally releases hormones, making it one of the most effective and reliable delivery systems available for both men and women.

Our Approach to Pellet Therapy
Pellet therapy is one of several delivery methods Dr. Bruice offers as part of his comprehensive hormone replacement therapy for women and hormone replacement therapy for men. Each plan begins with a complete hormone evaluation and lab testing to identify the right balance of estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid, and other key hormones.
Rather than using a standard dosing protocol, Dr. Bruice customizes every treatment to your specific needs. He selects high-quality bioidentical pellets and determines your dosage based on lab results, symptoms, and how your body absorbs hormones over time.
Pellet therapy offers a convenient and consistent way to maintain balanced hormone levels, and for many patients, it works seamlessly alongside other treatment forms such as topical or transdermal applications.
Getting Started with Pellet Therapy
Pellet insertion is quick, minimally invasive, and performed in-office. After cleaning and numbing the area, the small pellets are placed under the skin near the hip through a tiny incision that is closed with a small bandage. Most patients can resume normal activity the next day.
Because everyone absorbs hormones differently, Dr. Bruice begins new patients on a conservative dose to minimize side effects and allow the option of adding additional pellets later if needed. This careful approach ensures comfort, safety, and predictable results.
Follow-Up and Monitoring
You will return for follow-up appointments and lab testing to assess how your body is responding. Hormone levels are monitored regularly to ensure balance and make any necessary dosage adjustments.
Risks and Safety
Pellet therapy is safe when performed by an experienced medical doctor. As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks, though they are uncommon.
Possible risks include:
- Pellet expulsion
- Localized infection or scar tissue
- Temporary tenderness at the insertion site
Excess hormone levels may also cause side effects:
- Too much estradiol can cause breast tenderness, bloating, or uterine bleeding
- Too much testosterone can cause acne, hair thinning, irritability, or facial hair growth
Because pellets cannot be removed once inserted, Dr. Bruiceโs conservative dosing strategy helps prevent overtreatment and minimizes the chance of side effects.
Supporting Your Results with a Healthy Lifestyle
Balanced hormones are an important part of healthy aging, but lifestyle choices also play a major role. Simple, sustainable habits can help you feel better and support long-term results.
- Exercise regularly: Physical activity improves mood, sleep, and metabolism while supporting bone and heart health.
- Eat a nutrient-rich diet: Focus on fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains. Limit processed foods, sugar, and alcohol.
- Prioritize sleep: Getting enough quality rest helps regulate stress hormones and maintain energy.
Manage stress: Chronic stress can disrupt hormone balance. Relaxation, yoga, meditation, or time outdoors can help keep cortisol levels in check.
